Devlog 01 - The Barrel & The Railway Roundabout Memorial Fountain
The First Week!
Back at it again! This week, I spent some time trying to get my head around Blender, and wow—it's a lot. The program is incredibly confusing, and the tutorials were based on older versions, meaning I spent ages hunting for settings that had either been moved, renamed, or completely changed. Definitely a rough start, but I’m pushing through.
The Barrel

Following this tutorial, I made a simple wooden barrel, and it turned out almost identical to the tutorial—though I think I messed up the iron bars a little. UV unwrapping is definitely something I need to practice more because right now, I barely understand it.
The Railway Roundabout Memorial Fountain
I ran into a few challenges, though. Figuring out the lights underneath was beyond me, and I couldn’t quite get the water to look right either. That said, I experimented with some textures, and Blender seems to have a tonne of options there. Even though this model is far from perfect, I feel like I learned a lot about basic shapes, materials, and the overall workflow in Blender.
Overall, it’s been a frustrating but rewarding first week, and I’m looking forward to playing around with Blender more in the coming weeks!

Portfolio Exercise
For the portfolio exercise, I exported my barrels and fountain from blender, and imported them into Unity. After finally managing to get their textures over, I added in some models from various places (found below in references). I tried to set up a scene of some kind with them.
