Devlog 03 - Terrains and ProBuilder

The Third Week!

This week focused on learning about terrain building and probuilder. Both useful tools for creating maps and models. I think I like the terrain and building parts of these tutorials. I am not really creative nor good at building, but it is calming.

The Terrain

I started off with the terrain, having fun with some of the different settings till I came up with something I was happy with. I forgot about the maze-like part, so made a quick area down the bottom that I can fill with obsticals when needed. It is fairly basic.

The ProBuilding

I decided I wanted to put it in the middle of the circluar ravine/canyon area I made. The build I did was fairly basic. Created using ProBuilder tools in Unity. Specifically using PolyShape and CreateCube. Attempted cutting out the sides of the stairs to remove the overlap where the pieces intersect, but was struggling to use the tool. o be a lookout. I was planning on adding some seating around the area if I have enough time, as well as making the shade more well, more like one of those shades you see at parks.

Portfolio Exercise - Navigation

Where to begin. I have been having troubles to get raycast working. So have since abandoned using my own project to instead using the provided one for this exercise. I don't know why it wasn't working, the error didn't help and debug logs said everything should be working. Anyway, what I did in the exercise was first create a simple script for spawning (instantiate) enemy prefabs wherever the user clicks. The enemy then follows the player (as I couldn't work out how to get it to predict the player's movements) using a simple "Set Destination at Player Tag". If it wasn't obvious, the player is the one that is pink.
