Devlog 04.2 - Ideation

The Fourth Week - Ideation!

This week we also had to come up with 2-3 game ideas. We needed to identify the target audience and justify why we think the game would be successful. Followed by explaining the goal of the prototype.

Game Idea 1 - Stick Fighter

A game where you play as a character fighting others with different kinds of sticks. Some unconventional, some not. The game is inspired by the childhood experience of wandering outside, stumbling upon the perfect stick, and instinctively turning it into a sword, staff, or spear to play-fight with friends. That sense of discovery and imagination is the heart of the game. It sets out to recreate some of that wonder and nostalgia of finding the best stick, and using those as fun weapons in a simple 3D hack & slash styled game. The sticks would have different characteristics. Some would be more sturdy and reliable, others hilariously impractical but fun. You can even weild two at the same time.

(Potentially) A co-op mode where two players race to see who can defeat the most enemies in a select time frame.

The target demographic would be anyone that enjoys combat based games, that are a bit silly. I believe the game would be successful due to the novelty of the finding random sticks being a nostalgic feeling for many people. The prototype would be centered around the combat with some basic enemies.

Game Idea 2 - Unnamed

A chaotic party game where there is up to 8 players (real or AI). The goal is to be the last one standing, while using many differrent kinds of powerups to reach that goal by gaining the upperhand. The game has a top-down perspective, providing a view of the entire map and all players at the same time. The map will have some environmental hazards to add to the chaos. The players/AI will use sticks as weapons, where the different power ups can either multiply how many sticks one has, or sets the stick on fire.

The target demographic includes anyone that likes playing couch co-op/cooperative games, or messing around with their friends over chaotic games. it is open age, friendly for the family. It would be successful for being a fun and simple party/family game. The prototype would be based around the games mechanics.
