Devlog 5 - Polish and UI

Goal

The main goal for me was finishing off the mechanics, making sure they're polished as well as making sure the UI was done.

Polish and UI

I have the UI working a lot more smoother, with colours that I am fine with. Some small changes are planned for the final week. The end product should be fairly polished with the mechanics working now.

Testing & Feedback

Some bugs and such that I have found or been told about

  • Enemies and NPCs don't have collisions with each other
  • The UI moves based on screen size, need to make consistent (not noticeable in Unity, but on browser)
  • Doesn't freeze time when in conversation with an NPC
  • Settings button crashes the game.
  • Sometimes, the enemies can yeet you out of the map. Unsure how to replicate, but it has happened twice
  • UI isn't consistent, this is cause I was testing it in one scene and forgot to update the other scene.
  • Enemies don't collide with each other.

I received some f feedback the testing session.

  • SceneSwitcher unfreezes when clicking on Venture Forth, casting a spell
  • Enemy Damage switch from collision enter to collision stay.
  • Enemies that shoot projectiles
  • Add check for fireball if it has a clicked on a UI item.

I will be implementing the above this following week.

Challenges

Sprites have provern to be too time consuming, so I have decided to use free resources after all. I am at least proud in the fact that some of the sprites were made by myself. Other challenges included the GUI, it was difficult working out what colours to use, but I have settled on orange for health and aqua for mana.

Next Week

The plan is obviously to have a finished product.
